You sit down after supper (or maybe even with it) and reach for the remote. The evening news comes on with its entirely predictable formula of natural and man-made disasters, venality, sports and celebrity misdeeds, and weather. For the rest of the evening you may find yourself alternately bored or angry at the steady manipulation of appetites from watching a series of ads interspersed by snippets of melodrama and situation comedy...whose situations grow ever more bizarre. You have wondered why you continue to do watch this kind of stuff! It seems that anything would be better.
Actually there is a lot that is better. Books, for example, are better. Not too far in the past pretty much all literature and poetry were, quite simply, Christian poetry and literature -- and every category of literature and poetry, whether fantasy, fiction, science-fiction, romance, short story, novels or poetry, dealt in some way with Christian teachings and values. All authors were Christian authors, and one could feel safe that what one brought home from the bookstore was not only a good tale, well told, but one firmly fixed in the best traditions of Christian thought and values.
Of course, this is not the case any more. However, among the vast number of books written and published each year, there are still many which are classics, providing insight and entertainment, leisure and leave-taking from daily care, enlightenment and edification in their story and characters. A wide variety of Christian authors are still producing fiction and poetry of outstanding quality. Their works may not readily available at the major book outlets, but we will try to see that they are available here at t-CBC.com. Please let us know if a book you think should be here is not here yet, and we will go searching for a supplier willing to work with us in such a way that the book can be listed.
If you wish to satisfy your desire for good Christian fiction, good Christian poetry, books about good Christian fiction and poetry, and books featuring Christian themes and Christian values our growing assortment of books may be "just the ticket". Whether it is fiction, science-fiction, historical novels, poetry or books about Christian fiction that you seek, you will find it here at The Christian Book Corner. Our carefully chosen and ever growing selection of Christian fiction, Christian poetry and books about Christian fiction and poetry will meet the most discerning tastes in those areas. Our suppliers are chosen from among the best publishers, whose standards are time tested. Please browse at your will among out selections, remembering that all of them are offered at our everyday discounts, and that the “store” online here never closes.

A Landscape with DragonsIn this study of the pagan invasion of children's culture, O'Brien, the father of six, describes his own coming to terms with the effect it has had on his family and on most families in Western society. His analysis of the degeneration of books, films, and videos for the young is incisive and detailed. Yet his approach is not simply critical, for he suggests a number of remedies, including several tools of discernment for parents and teachers in assessing the moral content and spiritual impact of this insidious revolution.

Animal Kingdom"Pavel Chichikov sees the natural through the mystical eyes of the supernatural....This is to see things as they are meant to be seen. It is to see God's presence in the weaving of a spider's web or in the flight of a bird. It is to see as Gerard Manley Hopkins saw. It is to paint inscapes. It is to see truly."

Astonishments: Selected Poems of Anna KamienskaKamienska came of age during the horrors of the Nazi occupation of Poland and lived under Communism. These experiences, as well as the sudden death of her husband, led her to engagement with the Bible and the great religious thinkers of the 20th century. Her poems record the struggles of a rational mind with religious faith, addressing loneliness and uncertainty in a remarkably direct, unsentimental manner.

Beauty Will Save the WorldWolfe has been called “one of the most incisive and persuasive voices of our generation,” and this penetrating and wide-ranging book makes a powerful case for the importance of beauty and imagination to cultural renewal. A section on visual artists Mary McCleary, Fred Folsom, and Makoto Fujimura (accompanied by reproductions of their works) demonstrates that there are art
