Resources for Groups and Programs

The word neophyte is often used in connection with a convert to the Faith.  It comes from two Greek words meaning newly planted, so a neophyte could be looked at in that way, as a new and tender shoot, or a seed.  Directors and teachers of religious education programs, who most often deal with neophytes, have a particularly difficult task because the participants of any given program at all but the most primary levels of religious education tend to enter with at least some exposure to, and some ideas and opinions about, the subject matter.  How to go about the task of presenting the Truth while accommodating differing expectations and desires is, then, an integral part of the director’s or teacher’s task...  Nevertheless, to think of a neophyte as a beginner, an unopened seed, is not at all incorrect -- whatever may have been previously "learned" now may well have to be "un-learned"!   And, frankly, no matter what our age, an honest look at ourselves will reveal the truth that we are all neophytes at one thing or another including our Christian journey.  We are all in some way begin-again Finnegans.  It is this ever-new aspect to the peculiar task of teaching the faith while living it which makes it continually exciting, challenging and fulfilling.

At The Christian Book Corner (t-CBC) we are keenly aware of this dimension in our lives.  It is part of our mission to support the development of our common Christian culture, especially now at a time when so many seem to have dismissed its relevance, with appropriate materials from reputable publishers such as books, video workshops, group discussion manuals, dvds, and music cds which can benefit all of us “neophytes” as we travel toward spiritual and intellectual maturity through life.  Whether as a homeschool or Sunday School classroom teacher, youth group facilitator, adult discussion/sharing group leader, or Religious Education Director, we wish to help equip you with the right tools for the job.  Learning games for youngsters, discussion starters, story outlines, general teaching resources ... our growing supply of products is designed for both learners and their teacher/guides on the way.  The cds, dvds, books and children's activity supplies found in our Groups and Programs Resource Section will help you engage and nurture young and older "neophytes" as they grow in the knowledge and love of Truth.
